Introduction to the Lab

Manufacturing processes Lab provides students with facilities where they learn and practice various fabricating techniques, which is part of the manufacturing courses at mechanical engineering department. The workshop provides a chance to appreciate a variety of manufacturing activities needed in making a product. It also provides support in wide range of specialized areas of conventional and advanced manufacturing processes to students. . The lab contributes mainly to teaching and senior design project (SDP) activities. The lab facilities include:

•Welding processes including: MIG, TIG, SMAW and spot welding and accessories

•Metal Forming including: rolling, profile bending, band saw and shearing machines

•Manual machining machines including: universal milling, conventional turning and drilling and grinding machines. 

•Numerical Control (NC/CNC) Machining including three axis CNC milling and three axis turning center.

•Vertical and horizontal comparators

•Accessories


Courses supported include:

ME 205, ME416 and ME415.
