In an attempt to enrich the community and to provide opportunities for cultured people, JUC's Cultural Club launched Wameedh Symposium 2 on Sunday 9th of April, 2017 that continued for one week. Wameedh is an Arabic word that means flash and it refers here to the glimmering of innovation and new ideas. The Symposium's program took place on Tuesday starting with a dialogue between misery and positivity. The dialogue has been written by the Cultural Club member of honor Bashayer Majrashi and presented by the students Farah Al-Thunayan and Nada Al-Otaibi.
Dr. Saud Alshalan, a Saudi novelist, was hosted during the program where he presented a talked about novels and culture. Also, Ms. Alia Noh was invited to give a talk about the intellectual development. The program attendees exceeded 500 of JUC students and staff, in addition to the visitors from Jubail colleges and schools.
The Symposium included a book fair entitled "Noor", which lasted from Sunday till Thursday, where participating bookshops and publishers included Madarak, Bookccino, and National. Noor is an Arabic word that means light and it has been chosen referring to the light of knowledge.
Further, the Symposium included a competition named Book Trip, which stands on presenting the participants' reading experiences. First place of the Competition was occupied by Aisha Al Dossary. Finally, the Symposium was closed with a competition for the best picture of a book cover, which Shawq Almottaki occupied its first place.
